How it works

Three steps, a few minutes a week

No spreadsheets, no shoebox of receipts at tax time.

1

Add your statements

Upload the monthly tax summary from Uber or DiDi. FareLedger reads every line (fares, fees, tolls, levies) and shows you what it found before saving.

2

Log shifts and receipts

Snap the odometer when you start and finish a shift, and snap receipts as you go. Regular bills like car rent and your phone repeat on their own.

3

See your BAS and tax

Your BAS figures each quarter, your car's business-use %, your profit and the GST to set aside, ready to lodge or hand to your accountant.

BAS, every quarter

Know your G1, 1A and 1B before the due date

Rideshare drivers have to register for GST from their first trip and lodge a BAS. FareLedger works out each quarter from your statements and expenses.

  • GST on sales, and GST credits on fees and expenses
  • Copy the figures in one tap, ready for ATO Online or myGov
  • Mark a quarter as lodged; later changes carry into your next BAS

Car logbook

A logbook the ATO accepts, without the notebook

Start a shift, snap the odometer, finish the shift. FareLedger builds your logbook trip by trip and works out your car's business-use %.

  • Odometer photos read for you
  • 12-week logbook period tracked, with breaks and private trips
  • Several cars, rented, financed or owned

Expenses

Every cost in its place, month by month

Car rent, fuel, cleaning, your phone, water and mints for passengers. Snap the receipt and FareLedger fills in the amount, date and GST.

  • See each month at a glance, with the GST included
  • Flags a regular cost missing from a month, like a week of car rent
  • Things you buy for work (a phone, a dashcam) claimed the right way
9:41
Expenses by month with payments grouped by kind
Reports

Your year in one place, ready for your accountant

Income, Uber and DiDi fees, your expenses, your car claim and your estimated taxable profit, for the whole financial year.

  • Export a PDF, Excel and CSV pack with your receipts
  • Monthly view with any missing statements flagged
  • Car claim compared both ways: logbook and cents per km
9:41

Our story

From a paper logbook to an appMade by a driver, for drivers

Why I built FareLedger

Hi, I'm Melanie. I came to Sydney from Santiago, Chile, in 2022 to study English, fell in love with the city and decided to stay for my higher studies. I'm now in my final semester of a Bachelor of Software Engineering, majoring in Artificial Intelligence, at Torrens University.

Like many students here, I've worked all kinds of part-time jobs. I started driving for Uber and DiDi in September 2025, and my first tax time showed me how old-school it all is. My logbook, my BAS and my GST were on paper. I moved to a spreadsheet, but I was still typing everything in by hand.

That's when the idea for FareLedger came: one app where drivers log their business and personal kilometres, for one car or several, alongside their income, expenses and BAS figures. Every feature is designed around the way rideshare drivers work, and in the future it will help taxi drivers too.

I built it myself, with what I've learned in software engineering and AI. We're starting in New South Wales, then the rest of Australia, and who knows, maybe the world.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is FareLedger for?

Rideshare drivers in Australia, for example on Uber and DiDi. It keeps the records a driver needs for their BAS and their tax return.

Do I need to be registered for GST?

Yes. The ATO requires rideshare drivers to register for GST from their first trip, whatever they earn, and to lodge a BAS. FareLedger works out your BAS figures each quarter.

Does FareLedger lodge my BAS or tax return?

No. FareLedger gives you the figures and an export for your accountant; you, or your registered tax agent, lodge them with the ATO.

Is FareLedger tax advice?

No. FareLedger keeps your records and gives estimates and general information based on ATO rules. For advice about your own situation, talk to a registered tax agent.

Is my information safe?

Your records are stored in Sydney and only you can see them. Statements and receipts you upload are read by AI to fill in the numbers; they aren't used to train AI. Read the Privacy Policy for the details.

Does the app track my location?

No. In the phone app you can turn on an optional reminder for when you forget to end a shift. It only checks whether the car is moving during a shift, and your location is never saved or sent anywhere.

Can I cancel or delete my data?

Yes. You can download all your records at any time, and delete your account and everything in it from the app.
